On February 19, 2014 by Rebecca Whyte

Stratford School announces the opening of Stratford Middle School, San Francisco – Stratford’s fourth private middle school opening since 1999. The new Stratford Middle School, San Francisco joins Stratford Middle Schools located in Fremont, San Jose, and Santa Clara in accepting enrollment for the 2014-15 school year.

The new Stratford Middle School campus will be located at 301 De Montfort Avenue, in San Francisco’s Ingleside district. Stratford School has had a campus at this location since 2008, which until now only offered preschool through fifth grade. The new middle school campus will populate the third floor of the building, with the majority of elementary school on the second floor, and preschool on the first floor.

“We are thrilled we can now build upon the strong academic and social bonds that our school community embodies – all the way through middle school!” – Katy Dilorio, Principal, Stratford School, San Francisco.

Stratford Middle School’s goal is to prepare and mentor students for admission to private high schools, or advanced placement in public schools. All students are provided the necessary tools to excel, and they are encouraged to actively participate in leadership, community service, and extracurricular activities.

Sharvil Gupta, a 2010 graduate of Stratford Middle School, recently shared one of his high school experiences with Stratford. According to Gupta, fifty students tried out for his high school’s debate team, but only twenty students were accepted – and of those twenty students, seven were graduates of Stratford Middle School. In an email to his former principal, Gupta wrote: “I am very proud of the school I came from, as well as the awesome Debate Club that nurtured my skills.”

Neeja Patel, a 2011 graduate of Stratford Middle School, just founded a community service organization; Eat Right, Be Bright, Live Active, which gives advice and support on how to live a healthy lifestyle. In an email to her former principal, Patel not only shared the news of her new organization, she also acknowledged other students for their accomplishments: “Stratford has three former students who write for the San Jose Mercury News, Oakland Tribune, and Contra Costa Times. We are three of thirty highly vetted students. We hope you enjoy and take pride in helping shape our writing!”
